Any idea why after my windows were tinted on my 07 E63 that the key fobs wont lock/unlock or open the trunk anymore? The keyless go is the only thing working.i put new battery’s in them and still nothing. The LED on the remote lights up with each button I press but not reaction from the car.Is there a relearn that I can do ,or is it something that got disabled by accident some where?Any help would be great before the dealer rapes me.

What kind of tint was used on the windows? Certain type of tints will wreak havoc!

They either shorted out your Antenna amplifier, or if they were messing with the pillars in the back and removed it, may have forgotten to put it back.
If it’s you antenna Amp, Ill sell you my spare one for less than what you can get it off of ebay.

Also, forgot to mention, if they put metallic tint — the reception would be close to zero cause it would interfere with those antenna lines that are intermingled with the rear defroster lines on your rear windshield.

SunTek Carbon 45% is the tint used. Can anyone find out if this could be the problem? Or can someone point out here on the glass is the antenna area so I can remove that section if this is the issue? I think top dead center there is a group of tight lines that could be the antenna. Or can I use a external antenna on the module to get some reception at least?Even if its just a lil bit.

Ok, I narrowed it down as far as I can.While took off the rear deck and the 2 C pillars I can see there is a RF module on driver side that is green ad seems to do Rear Defog,And Radio FM/AM.On the passenger side there is also a smaller green module that I suspect is the keyless module.That has 1 coax ant wire going in it and then another connector that contains just 2 wires that look as if 1 is brown and the other red.1 of those is common with the rear defoger ground wires and the other is dead and goes to a short line in the rear glass.No fuses are blown anywhere and my alarm/siren works fine. My keyless go and IR on door handle works fine with the remote.Just no RF keyless entry working.
Now while I was in the rear deck I wanted to see why my rear shade doesnt work.The motor is good but the switch on the dash only sends 12V 1 way.It is suppose to send 12V both ways so it will open and close. I hear the SAM unit controls the RF keyless and this sunshade?
Please help me figure this out? Can I just add 12v to the RF module on passenger C pillar for the RF keyless to work again?

Mine stopped working as well right after I got the tint. Went back to the shop and the guy told me its quite normal as some of the moisture gets in between the door, after it dries about a day it’ll be fine. Ny remote worked again the next day

Sorry for the late reply.. been busy at work. The driver side C Pillar is the antenna amplifier for the key fob RF. That is the part that I have sitting around here.
Make sure all the wires are snug..

Also, just some info.
Keyless go uses some kind of nearfield antenna that are on the doors (to unlock), and inside the car (for starting). This seems to be fine, since your keyless go works.
The IR (infrared) lock/unlock function uses that IR receiver on the door handle. Its also responsible for the rolling down/up of your windows (among other things) using your key fob. This also seems to be working fine — try it. Point your key to the IR Receiver, and press unlock/lock.
The antenna amplifier (C Pillar driver side) is the radio receiver for the RF of your key fob. That amp takes the signal from the key and sends it to the SAM to unlock your doors, or open your trunk. This is typically what breaks (from all the forum posts i read) when a tinter uses steam to apply the tint.
Hope this helps. Spent a lot of time going through WIS and countless forum posts to get this info.

I wonder if mySAM has an issue cause my rear shade wont go up or down cause the button on the dash will only give it a 12 volt signal in 1 direction.For up and down of the rear shade the button o nthe dash needs 12 volts to reverse polarity to operate in both directions.I tacred it far as I could.
So can you tell me what the similiar module is o nthe passenger rear C pillar is? Is it almost identical to the driver side but seams to only do 1 function as to where the driver side does am/fm/rear defroster/and RF keyless?.
My IR and Keyless work fine.Even my siren goes off and all fuses are good. I just would like to rule out or identify what that other module is on the passenger side since it shares some of the same functions.Also I hope i wasnt lied to buy the tinter when he said he used Suntek Carbon 45% so he doesnt take blame and have to re-tint it. Cause if all I have to do is remove the tint then that is an easy fix.
There is like 3 or 4 of the rear defroster lines that have the coating scraped off but the metal contact seems to still be connectecd so I dont think there is a break in the connection but if the tint is any kind of mettalic then that would merge those lines and short it out.? But I am game to buy yours if I have to.
