The heater in my car rarely works. I have had this car for a year and it has come on maybe a total of ten times. Each time it has been random, and it only blows out from defrost. Any ideas on what it could be?

Gosh, where do you live? It must be a pretty mild climate. Here in Montana I would have parked the Seville until I saved up the funds to have that ’92 state of the art heater control system looked at-like tomorrow’s tomorrow. Being it has been on the road for 20 years now, the control unit may need replacing. Only someone familiar with Cadillac controls would know all the ins and outs of the system. Try and get an estimate on repairs from a reputable shop.

I had the same problem in my 1991 caddy, and turned out to be the blend door. It is located in back of the glove compartment. There are two kinds, the automatic blend doors and the manuel ones. Since the temperature is automatic and programmed to stay where it is set, it would be an «automatic blend door». Not a hard fix.

I have a 2004 CTS. I know there are two fuse boxes underneath the floor carpeting in front of the rear seat. Remove the rear seat bottom cushion and pull the carpet forward and you will see them. Inside the cover identifies what fuse is for what function. Hopefully it is a blown fuse, otherwise my guess would be a short in the wiring some where.

Pod kapotou a proti firewallu poblíž středu vozu je motor ventilátoru (ventilátor), jehož odstranění vyžaduje trochu práce. Zhaslo to v posledních 2 z mých 4 Cadillaců. Ukázalo se, že pokud nejste opravdu opatrní s umístěním drátů zapalovací svíčky, otře se o ně, a pokud jeden z nich praskne nebo zkřehne, dojde k „oblouku“ a zkratování motoru ventilátoru. Kompresor klimatizace by se měl stále zapínat (když se zapojí, uslyšíte cvaknutí), ale do kabiny nebude vhánět žádný vzduch, horký ani studený.
Součást byla jako akcie za 200 dolarů (ceny roku 2000) a její odstranění trvalo asi hodinu. Můj Caddy měl v té době tuhle zatracenou vzpěru přes motorový prostor, kterou jsme nakonec odstranili, abychom se dostali k motoru dmychadla.
