Hi guys, need your help.
2016 Murano Platinum. Last night I noticed that I hear a buzzing noise from rear of the car when car is off.
Seems to be coming from the rear bumper area. We had a lot of rain last night.
The buzz has been on all night and all day today. Went to the dealer, but they are fully booked until Thursday
Co to může být?
Díky!

Is it a buzz or more of a constant tone? Mine started giving off a tone this weekend and I was ableto isolate it to the speaker in the bumper that beeps when the rear hatch is opened. Apparently the bumper facia has to be removed to access the speaker but my issue suddenly stopped before I got to that point.

Thanks! I think you are correct. it does sound more like a constant tone. It lasted for two days and stopped shortly after rain stopped and temperatures dropped below freezing..

Yep, sounds exactly like my issue. The tone stopped but then started back up today after driving in the rain. It appears you’re right about what may be causing the issue.

Just to give an update. Two days later when I came to dealership it was dry , noise stopped and of course they said nothing is wrong with the car. That’s when i asked them to wash it. They came back from the wash and the noise was back on. Dealer replaced the buzzer for tailgate chime and everything is fine now. Except for in the process they lost my wheel locks (they were stored in the spare tire compartment which they had to clean up in order to access the rear bumper

THanks for the update. Mine is still acting up when it’s wet outside so I started researching how to change the buzzer. My only hesitation was what if that wasn’t the issue. I’m glad to hear that replacemnent fixes the problem so I’ll move forward in getting this done.

Thanks for info. My 2016 has the same problem. A very high pitched buzz or hum. It stays on for hours even after the car is turned off. The dealer has no idea. Unfortunately it is not on 100% of the time. I have “ringing” in my ears so I cannot hear it but my wife reports that the sound is there again. Finally I recorded it. Is there any new input.

In another thread one of the members suggests that its a pump that is re-pressurizing the fuel system that loses pressure due to the drop in air temperature in winter. This diagnosis was not confirmed by the OP

Yeah. I’d check or replace the gas cap and go from there.

Just had mine diagnosed. Dealer says it is from the automatic tailgate actuator. He says it “thinks the tailgate is open “ . The part is very expensive but I think I can get some warranty help

usually a liftgate problem
if anyone hears that tone coming from the back its usually an indication the liftgate has a problem i had the tone and my liftgate would not open, the tone is only on when stopped or when car is off, the tone turns off if you are moving probably to not distract the driver, if you have the tone/buzz there is a button to disable the liftgate in the glove box. turn off the liftgate switch in the glovebox and if the sound goes away then you know its a liftgate issue. Mine did this and it was the liftgate actuator covered under warranty, funny thing was the tech was like whats that tone/buzz im like thats the liftgate complaining it has a problem, i showed him by using that valet disable switch in the glove boxed and he was like i have heard that on a few of these and never knew i was like yup and you guys charge 140$ and hour lol

It should be the speaker that is suppose to beep when you use the power lift gate. My wife’s was doing it last year and it finally stopped making any noise all together. Mine was fixed under extended warranty.

Peklo,
I have the same issue with my car Nissan Murano 2015. It’s start beeping from the back. I’ve just find when it’s rain it beeps. When it’s dry it stopped beeping… it’s weird. Also the trank button sometimes works sometimes it doesn’t work. The beeping doesn’t stop even when the car is off. I have to take to Nissan service this Thursday. If you find the problem please let me know. Thank you.

Rear Hatch Beeping
On the 2019 Murano when the rear hatch is opening or closing it beeps(quite annoying). Has anyone found the location of the beeper? I had a 2014 and unplugged the beeper but the 3rd gen is different and not in the same location.

Might be a different thing I’m hearing, but about two hours after parking in the garage today I noticed a whining-alert sound that was persistent and seemed to be coming from the frontend. Popped the hood, but it didn’t seem much louder. I think it might be coming from somewhere center-pass-side of the firewall, or possibly from a CVT component. The sound it made is somewhat similar to the dying chirp a smoke detector makes when the battery is dying, to alert the homeowner to replace it. It also seemed to resemble something losing pressure or releasing pressure in a lazy, wheezy way. The noise sounded maybe every five seconds.
As I was in the middle of yardwork, I didn’t record the noise and decided to just start the car. Just the act of hitting the IGN button once without the brake made the sound become more frequent, maybe happening every two seconds. Started the engine, turned it off. no sound for the past 30 minutes. The only thing I did differently today since owning the car is, I backed into the garage. I wonder if stopping in reverse and parking somehow affects the CVT line pressure and it goes through some process to get the fluid back to where it needs to be. If it sounds again within the next couple of hours, I’ll update this post. And I’ll record the sound and post it here.

Driving your Nissan Murano at highway or freeway speeds with humming noise is not only irritating, it can also be dangerous. Humming noise is a symptom of an underlying problem with your Murano, which must be resolved urgently for your safety and driving comfort.
The most common causes for humming noise in Nissan Murano at high speeds are bad wheel bearing, uneven tire wear and using tires with large tread blocks. Less common cause is failing transmission.
1. Špatné ložisko kola
A defective wheel bearing can be the cause of humming noise in your Nissan Murano. The most common sign of bad wheel bearing is grinding or humming noise in the cabin from the direction of the affected wheel. Sometimes other symptoms may also appear, a knocking noise when cornering, and vibrations in the steering wheel or the whole body. The faster you drive your Murano, the louder the humming noise gets.
Co způsobuje selhání ložisek v Nissan Murano?
Even when driving your Murano in a straight line, the bearings have to absorb high radial forces. The entire weight of the vehicle rests on the bearings. When driving, the speed creates additional forces. If a curve is then also driven through, axial forces occur. High impacts on the bearings also occur on uneven roads or when driving through potholes. Impacts of all kinds are much more damaging to bearings than the high loads. Therefore, all wheel bearings eventually fail. However, how soon they fail depends on driving habits. Other factors can also contribute to premature bearing failure on your Murano, like driving with unbalanced tires or poor wheel alignment.

Should I replace only the defective wheel bearing in Murano?
In general, it is advisable to change the second bearing on the same axle even if there is only one defective wheel bearing in your Nissan Murano. It can be assumed that both bearings were subjected to roughly the same stress and that the failure of the second bearing is imminent. If they are replaced at the same time, this saves time and money.

What causes uneven tire wear in Nissan Murano?
The common causes of uneven tire wear are unbalanced wheels, improper wheel alignment, overinflated or underinflated tires, and worn suspension or steering parts. Uneven tire wear can also happen if you’ve installed cheap brand tires in your Murano. These tires may use inferior materials (steel belts, which are less supportive of the tread, rubber which is more prone to uneven wear, etc.) and can be more prone to cupping on a vehicle with worn suspension or imperfect wheel balance or alignment.
3. Pneumatiky s velkými bloky běhounu
It is possible the humming noise you’re hearing while driving your Nissan Murano may not be due to a defect, but because of the type of tires you’re using, especially if you started hearing the noise after installing new tires on the rims. Tires with large tread block pattern are known to be noisy on the highway.
Terénní a zimní pneumatiky jsou při vysoké rychlosti zvláště hlučné, protože agresivním dezénem prochází vzduch. Některé terénní pneumatiky také vydávají hodně hluku, který je patrný v kabině vozidla.
4. Problém s přenosem
If low-pitched humming noise is coming from under the body of your Nissan Murano, through the floor, it could indicate a problem with the transmission. But it is not common to just hear the humming noise without any other symptoms: clunking noises, erratic shifting, etc.
Proč investovat do čističky vzduchu?
There are many reasons why your Nissan Murano is making humming noise at high speeds. When looking for the reason, you should always start with the most obvious cause, faulty wheel bearing or damaged tire.
