Back in 21 I purchased a gas RAV, our first Toyota ever after a 20 year run with Hondas. Loved the RAV wanted to get another one but no gas was available, only a hybrid. Holy crap, I had no clue what a hybrid even was but loved it. Kids were graduating from college so we gave those RAVs to kids. Then I ordered and had to wait for another Hybrid for the wife. Every time I drove they hybrids I kept on saying to myself «I’ve gotta get me one of these» Plenty of power and awesome mpgs, no deficits to a gas powered cars. I was driving a Honda Passport but it just guzzled and was slower than the hybrid. So I ordered a hybrid for myself but noticed they had Primes on the lot. I opted to not wait and paid the 6k premium for a Prime. I do think the regular hybrid is the checkmate solution but I love the power of the Prime. I know all the talk is about EV but HEV’s and PHEV’s are a nice place to be until EV’s become mainstream.

Got a 2020 hybrid LTD and after 2 years when leasing ended I purchased it for my wife and replaced it with a 2022 hybrid LTD. No regrets at all.

Bought a new 2020 Limited, Japan built, in May 2020. It now has just 30k miles and we still love it. Rock solid, zero maintenance other than oil/filters, great mpg, enough power for us and still looks new. The grandkids love the pano roof and we love it for long trips, the extra cargo space and of course getting 42 mpg +/-!

I upgraded from a 2012 Prius to a 2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE Premium AWD because I needed more space to haul around my aging father’s wheelchair and/or walker. I loved the car, but wish I could have gotten a Platinum or Prime XSE. Less than 6 months later I had to trade in my RAV4 for a 2021 Sienna Platinum AWD VMI Mobility van because dad was more reliant upon his wheelchair.
Do I regret purchasing the RAV4? Not one bit. It was a great car. I just put gas in it and go. It never needed service. It never even needed an oil change, considering I had it for 2,600 miles and less than 6 months.
A RAV4 Prime XSE is on the top of my list for a replacement for the Sienna, when the time comes.

Wow, I also upgraded from a 2012 Toyota Prius to a 2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE Premium AWD. I love the extra space and headroom, but was worried about the drop in fuel economy. I have a 120 mile daily commute and thought I might feel it more at the pump. I’ve been pleasantly surprised that I’m averaging 42.7 mpg (vs. 47 mpg for the Prius). The added utility and AWD (and way more tech) make the 2022 Toyota Hybrid a no-brainer. Very happy with my purchase!

No regrets here. It is my first Hybrid and all I can say is, «why didn’t I buy a hybrid sooner.»

Our 2023 Limited is better than I expected, but the jury’s still out as to whether I should have held out for a Highlander Hybrid. There’s a very good chance that I’ll be trading the Rav for either a Highlander Hybrid or RAV4 Prime within 3 years — right now those vehicles are virtually unobtainable.

The interior of the Highlander is way better IMO but it’s more pricey.

I bought my 2021 XSE on January 7th 2022 and currently have over 45,000 miles driven in a year and a half of ownership. Outstanding mpg and I love how it looks. I will never go back to an ICE powered vehicle again. Maintenance is super easy and cheap, the transmission or Synergy drive system is bullet proof. No alternator, and no starter to worry about. Little things too that are welcome surprises like the awesome turning radius and doors that swing out to 90 degrees making entry and such much easier. Toyota did it right.

No regrets have been driving hybrid Toyotas since the first Highlander Hybrid came out.
I have a 2019 XSE j vin that was one of the first to be shipped to North Texas. The only real issue I have had was the fuel tank recall and my dealer took care of it quickly. Maybe I was lucky that I got one of the early ones off the assembly line in Japan and the QA was closely being watched.

I own a J Vin XSE. The good: solid, proven drivetrain. The car (not sure why Toyota calls it a truck) handles well with a tight turning radius for a high center of gravity car. Th car is comfortable, relatively quiet for a hatchback, and the layout is good.
The Bad: the car is now cheaply made (perhaps all cars are now) and has/had some serious design flaws that are well documented here. These design flaws are ridicules in 2023 such as water leaks, too thin hinges, plastic coolant valves, and corrosion.
If one goes in realizing that upper trim models such as the XSE are really $25K cars with $10 or $15K worth of options, they will make a better informed decision. I thought I was getting a fairly well made car for north of $37K but in reality, I got a dressed up LE.
If I had it to do all over, I would look at Highlander. Perhaps there is more meat on the bone for Toyota to make the car a little better made, perhaps not?

A Toyota dealer is offering a J VIN XSE for me. I have to decide by this weekend if I want to take delivery. Having sat in other RAV4, the seats are decent but not a lot of cushion but the seating height is great.
It handles ok but nothing to write about but I haven’t drove the XSE much. I had 1 test drive a few years back only.
Does the steering wheel leather fade? Does the seats have discoloration over the years? Parts failures, if any?
I have a Lexus sedan (it’s great but lack new tech, safety, and best comfort). I concerned about the cheaper plastic popping out or breaking long term or component failures if I go with the Rav4. XSE being offered is at MSRP est $43K. Not too far from a Lexus NX I’m pretty sure in pricing. Not sure it’s really worth it.

First time hybrid owner with a 23 Woodland. Love it! With reasonable mixed driving I am getting 41 MPG. Solidly beating the sticker saying 37 average. Have a 500 mile range.
Toyota has put together a good lineup with the RAV4 hybrids!

IMO, you are over analyzing and comparing.
No vehicle is perfect and the old saying of «you get what you paid for» still applies.
Comparing any RAV4 to Highlander, Lexus, etc. etc., are not Apple to Apple (ride, sound system, etc) comparison as all vehicles are marketed for (size of your wallet) specific price range in mind.
Per latest J.D. Power (confirming what most have already know) the quality issues are industry wide, not just Toyota as some (marketing agents) here seems to focus on.

IMO, I don’t trust JD Power. CR is more accurate and that’s still not perfect.
Ramsey isn’t right on that article also. We have very wealthy people with Lexus here in our area. Ramsey also has his legal issues (not a topic here).
Never hurts to analyze something carefully since it’s hard earned money spent.
Yes indeed, no vehicle is perfect.

Yes, Lexus is the new «Buick» that wealthy people drive. Perhaps not their flagship model but their mid level or lower level models and drive them a long time or lease them for their high residual value.
Researching a necessary product that goes down in value is smart.
Most here thought they made a good decision by purchasing a Rav. It is made by Toyota, has up to date features and safety equipment, it’s just prudent to know its short comings in advance as best as possible. At least we can mitigate some of the design flaws with sealants, anti corrosion methods, and perhaps a Platinum warranty.
Its not like we purchased an Alfa and are now surprised by the repairs needed. The Rav is not a hobby car, most buy as a daily driver.
Its just unfortunate and ridicules that some very simple mistakes were made in this design such as putting unneeded holes in a roof or changing some proven body hardware pieces.
I think most here want a vehicle to last at least 10-15 years, 150K-200K miles, only need to do maintenance, and not have the car slowly fall apart, leak, or corrode.
Toyota used to do this very well with a few exceptions. I did/do not mind spending the money if the product delivers.
Some past model Camrys, most Land Cruisers, perhaps the last Gen Rav, some Tercels, The first Gen Scion XB, The Lexus LS400, and many of their body on frame trucks were close to perfect if not completely perfect, so yes a vehicle can be perfect, IMHO.
“Is the RAV4 Hybrid worth it?” – is a question on my mind and on the minds of many potential car buyers as they navigate the increasingly complex world of automotive options. As hybrid vehicles gain traction and environmental awareness surges, curious motorists find themselves pondering if the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid truly stands up to its claims of remarkable efficiency, spirited performance, and undeniable value.
Takže, is the RAV4 Hybrid actually worth it?
The RAV4 Hybrid is certainly worth it for environmentally-conscious drivers seeking a well-rounded, fuel-efficient SUV with ample cargo space and a longer driving range per tank of fuel. However, the standard gas engine RAV4 might be a better choice for those looking for a more budget-friendly vehicle with similar features that still gets decent gas mileage.
I will show you exactly what you need, so you will know if it’s a good idea to buy a RAV4 Hybrid. Also, See this in-depth review on whether or not the RAV4 is an all-around good car.
