I bought a 2018 F-350 Lariat used. I figure a 2018 should have the Ford Connect module. If it has one how would I know and where would I look to find it. I like using my phone to start my truck as I did with my Silverado. Having the A/C running running before I get in the truck is a must in Florida and the remote start doesn’t always have the range. In winter when working in the north it’s good to get the heat going. Has anyone tried after market plug and play module?
Děkuji za odpověď.

What Is FordPass & How To Activate SYNC Connect
What is FordPass? FordPass is a smartphone app which allows a lot of extra features, and information on the vehicle. It’s almost comparable to a reduced size owners manual but better and more interactive. There are also badges to earn and perks to be had. How much does FordPass Cost? The.

I was told by the dealer and by Ford Twitter support that it was discontinued. Very soon after it was released. Supposedly they’re working on a replacement. I want one too. Not sure about aftermarket stuff. I’d prefer it be factory to work with the app like my Expedition.
Dne 8/25/20:
“The FordPass SmartLink product has been discontinued effective March 14, 2019. We are currently evaluating a replacement device that we hope will be in the market soon. If you have any additional questions, I recommend that you contact the SmartLink Program Headquarters at 1-844-589-0059 (Option 1). Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 9:00AM — 5:00PM (Eastern Time).

I downloaded Ford Pass yesterday for my 2020 F-250. It is available and works perfectly, maybe a little too perfectly. I am, however, not sure I want to keep the app. It doesn’t tell me anything I cant find on the dash and it allows Ford, or who knows who, to track your vehicle. It seems we have enough of that with our smart phones and supermarket check out computers. Data collection is a mega-buck industry.

CONVENIENCE FROM YOUR COUCH: REMOTE VEHICLE SETUP FOR MUSTANG MACH-E MAKES PRE-DELIVERY PERSONALIZATION A BREEZE
- Debuting on the all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E, Remote Vehicle Setup lets customers quickly and confidently pre-configure their vehicle for a more personalized ownership experience even before the vehicle arrives
- Remote Vehicle Setup via the FordPass App or Ford Owner Web lets customers create a driver profile, establish favorite destinations, pre-set climate control preferences and even choose preferred drive experience mode
- Additional Remote Vehicle Setup features will roll out for future Mustang Mach-E orders via over-the-air updates including radio presets
“Our customers want to personalize their vehicles to meet their busy lives,” said Erika Raia, Ford global EV digital experience manager. “In our research, we found that 94 percent of customers ranked navigation and finding charging locations as the top features that they would want to set up remotely. They want their new vehicle to be ‘theirs’ as soon as possible and this app lets them pre-set features and educate themselves about their Mustang Mach-E weeks before delivery – meaning less time adjusting settings and more time enjoying their new vehicle.”
Remote Vehicle Setup sends these settings to SYNC 4A, which uses machine learning to quickly learn drivers’ preferences, and gets even better over time thanks to advanced over-the-air updates – including a planned update that allows for personalization of radio presets before delivery.
These advanced connectivity features – on top of the ability to find convenient charging stations along a route using the FordPass App – give customers confidence that their Mustang Mach-E ownership experience will be hassle-free.
Place your order for the all-new Mustang Mach-E here. The all-electric Mustang starts hitting the streets in the U.S. near the end of the year.

It’s REAL. Not a scam. I just pinged my buddy. Can’t tell you who he/she is, but when they says it’s real, I am 110% positive it is real. Take it to the bank.

FordPass Connect is the built-in modem installed on some 2019+ SD’s
Smartlink is the OBDII dongle.
Both connect to FordPass.
It sounds like the dongle is being discontinued and the cellular plan that connected it to Fordpass is being terminated. Smartlink used Verizon and FordPass Connect uses AT&T. FordPass connect is NOT being discontinued.
My wife is boing to be pissed, she has wanted this dongle for her 2017 Explorer for a while after using the FordPass features on our 2019 SD (primarily remote door lock and start from cellphone).
«Lack of interest» was directly tied to the steep price they were charging for this gadget. If they priced it lower (and advertised it more) it would have been more popular.

Totally agree, the Fordpass app and Smartlink are vastly inferior to the GM equivalent. We’ve had it on a Yukon and now an Escalade and the usability/interface is so much better. Not sure who designed Fordpass but it’s definitely lacking compared to GM.

I spoke with a Ford dealer on this because my truck was supposed to come with it and did not and they also told me this feature is being discontinued.
SmartLink didn’t come on any vehicle from the factory.

So you dont have an onboard modem? FordPass Smartlink is a device (dongle), along with paid service, for older Ford models to use the features that newer, modem equipped vehicles are capable of.
FordPass(App) is just getting started, I haven’t heard anything about it being discontinued and would doubt it. Is your dealer saying the Smartlink device along with service connectivity to it is going to be discontinued?
I think the poster is confused about SmartLink and FordPass Connect.

Yes this is for the dongle. Yes it is real. I have the SmartLink dongle on my 2017. The good news is the refund is full retail so I am getting back over twice what I paid for it. Not bad for two years of use and getting paid to use it in the long run. Sucks I wont have it anymore, but as stated above, the UI was horrific.

Hex Texmudder, I remember you and your SmartLink issues from awhile back.
Glad to hear that youre getting your money back plus more for your frustration with the system. Lol

I too can confirm this is real — BUT I never received an email, so thanks to this forum for letting me know. Ive got over $800 coming back. For those with the OBD2 SmartLink module, call 844-589-0059 option 2 if you havent received a letter.
While its true the Ux sucked, here are the things I enjoyed having:
1. Door lock/unlock
2. Fuel level, oil life %, diagnostic codes
3. Geofencing with instant enter/exit alerts
4. A motion sensor with threshold level I could define, and instant text alerts
I have a Ravelco, so remote start isnt useful to me. I already have an owlcam, which I highly recommend for LTE video recording and alerts. Im going to try to replace a lot of this functionality with an aftermarket unit. I did some research and am settling on the Viper system. I get the following:
1. Door lock/unlock
2. Geofencing and alerts
3. Motion alerts
4. A Bluetooth siren beyond the Fords horn alarm (which is easy to circumvent)
So I lose the vehicle-specific info, but I gain a better motion sensor and a separate siren-based alarm. Ill report back once installed if anyone is interested.
