My SX is at 15,000 miles — and per the manual, I’m suppose to replace three filters: air, engine and inside cabin. Really need to replace these? 15,000 miles seems a bit soon. I live in Upstate New York — so dust doesn’t play a factor in changing them too often.

Change them when they start turning brown(dark) I live in NY as well long Island and sometimes 40 minutes north of the GW Bridge and when I had a ’14 Santa fe 2.0t (same engine) I replaced those at 25,000 because it started to turn brown. The cabin air filter tho. Every 10,000. I don’t know what they do to the cabin air filter but they do something to make the air smell better, I guess it’s there «clean air» technology

Hey Rick..Inspect the air filter. tap it out backwards or replace if u can’t see much light thru it. The engine oil filter. yes every time you change the oil. I do it seasonally. four time a years or 5000 miles. You be surprised how much the cabin filter accumulates. so to me that’s an annual thing..cheers.

The cabin air filter should be done as recommended, or annually depending on how many miles you go. You can really tell when it’s dirty, because the air starts to smell off when you run it. That’s the filter full of crap and polluting the air being recycled.

you can get the cabin filters on amazon a lot cheaper than the dealer too FYI. I have been getting them from $10 to $11 depending on the car, on amazon. I am sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere too. Amazon is just too damned convenient when you have prime.

I changed the cabin air filter at 15K. I was pretty dirty.
I have 18K on the engine filter & it still looks good.

Was it hard to take apart the glove box? I can’t find the air or cabin filter on Amazon.
It comes up but then says ‘not for turbo’.

the air cleaner filter does say «inspect» not necessary replace. Depending on your conditions in your area the cabin filter should be checked every six months and replaced as required.

I follow these:
— engine air filter replacement — every 2 years or every 6th oil change, whichever comes last
— cabin air filter — every year or every 3rd oil change, whichever comes last

I haven’t done this yet, and I am not sure if I even have the correct part numbers pulled up for the 2017 sportage.
Amazon is not very good about their fit guide either.
I find 2 different parts on the major part lookup sites
97133-D3000 This is the hyundai part number
800205P appears to be the TYC or aftermarket filter number
and of course amazon just shows the generic part number for hyundai / kia

Now to make this interesting, I had a 2011 sonata 2.0T and it used the same exact filter as my 2013 genesis coupe.
