How do you turn on reverse guidelines on a BMW camera?

Has anyone found a way to either remove or at least straighten up the green guide lines in the rear view cameras picture.
Other vehicles I have don’t bend the guide lines as you steer like in the BMW system. Other vehicle images are so much easier to use as a guide and trust. Never quite know where you are with what I feel is the BMW gimmick.

I don’t trust that what ever is outside them will not be in your path.

They are a prediction of your rearward turning circle and I do not think you can turn them off. I do not feel as you do that it is a gimmick, but actually quite helpful.

Yes, but that is different than the lines shown in the rear view camera.

The parking guidance lines are the green ones that bend when turning the steering wheel, NOT the sonic lines shown on the attachment above

I am on my third BMW with the moving guidelines and they are awesome. They have never been wrong, and are better than what I had on my ’17 Audi S6, which were static and didn’t move. It is fine not to like them, but they aren’t a gimmick, once you get used to them they are a much better system.

Yes but the straight (static as you say) do move as the car moves. Last thing I need is that and they also twang about as I turn the steering wheel to fine tune where I’m going.

They are meant to move as you move, lets say they are guiding you into a space , when you turn they continue to adjust as you turn the wheel showing where you are going to go, if they stayed put when you 1st start to manover and over steer the wheel then surely if they dont move you will be looking at false lines as you have moved the car and will hit something??

As others have said, you can turn it off when the parking aids are active. The bendy lines are very helpful together if you know what they mean. One is based on your steering input and the fixed bendy red lines tells you the maximum possible angle based on your current trajectory. In my opinion, this makes it so easy to park because you know where you’re going and how much more you can turn.

Brilliant. Thank you. I un ticked that box you circled and the green bendy lines are gone. GONE. I am so happy.

Problem with the lines and reversing camera IMHO-

As established the lines move (bend) as you steer. Bit like the sights of a gun moving more than the gun really moves as you are taking aim.

The green lines are closer together than the car is wide. Put another way — the gap between the lines is less than the width of the car.
Camera is at waist height. Just above the registration plate. Looking at the image in the car I can see the lines starting perpendicular to the bumper and near the ends of the bumper. But there is at least six inches of bumper visible beyond the green lines at both sides.

Because the camera is waist height, it does not see anything close to the rear that is rear light height or above. Owners handbook describes these as ledges.

And BMW’s own message in the reversing camera display says something like «don’t rely on the camera alone». In other words its not 100%, look out the windows and in your mirrors like you always did. Dont reverse by looking at the picture but it does come in handy as you approach the end of your space. The audible parking distance control also warns you are 25 cm (10 «) away with a continuous tone.
