I have Entry and Drive and the frunk/trunk/door opening with touch works great. I use it all the time. Love it when you’re holding packages or stuff. Have never slid my key out of its leather case once.

I have it on my car, it’s a pain in the ass when you wash the car, you have to make sure you don’t have your keys in your pocket, or every time you get your hand near the sensor on the frunk or rear hatch, they pop open.

If you wash your Porsche near your house leave the remote key inside. I’m sure your intelligent person to figure that out.
If not you shouldn’t be driving a Porsche.

Yup, put the key in the garage when washing. I do that now as a habit after having everything popping open all the time.

I love Entry & Drive EXCEPT for on the rear trunk. At least 1-2x / week, I’ll walk past the back of my ’18 Boxster GTS and the truck will pop open (and I wont be within 6″ of the car). Drives me nuts. Problem is that I can’t consistent replicate it.

It’s a easy solution not knowing if the car is locked. I Use remote services it connect me with my vehicle more closely than ever. Quite simply, the way it should be with a Sports Car. The PCC smartphone allows me to access and control my Porsche data wherever at anytime. I can close the doors find my car and sound the horn to find my parked car all by remote on my phone. The cost is only $119 per year. If you can afford a Porsche you can afford car connect.
Porsche connect for more info.

I am in trouble. I can afford any Porsche. Car connect would not work for me. I do not own or want a cell phone. Top down, no music and no interruptions from a cell phone. Just me, the car and the road.
I am not totally backward. I do have a battery powered pocket watch.

By far the easiest way to check if you remembered to lock your car when you have just stepped out or removed a package or a bag of groceries or something is to try the door. If it won’t open then it’s locked. I could check with with my phone but that takes way longer. I could walk away, perhaps go indoors, and deposit my key fob somewhere, then go back out and try the door. But that also takes way longer. To check whether you turned the kitchen light off you don’t want to have to walk outside and around the house to check whether the electric meter is registering a current draw. No, you just look at the light, if it’s on then it’s on. Checking a car door lock is the same, if it’s locked then it’s locked.

How to open Porsche’s Frank that many people do not know unexpectedly
I had been thinking about writing this for a long time, but since Porsche has released a video this time, I will write it after all ^ ^
That’s because I noticed this feature right after I bought the 911, so I’m doing it as a matter of course from the beginning, but there are many people who don’t know it.
When I saw me doing this, I was often surprised, «What did you do now ?! How did you open it ?!» ^^
So, the video released this time is one of the videos called SPOT ON, which explains various functions of Porsche little by little.
The person who introduces the function is a woman named Sabine who is titled Porsche Quality Specialist.
In this video (the video is at the bottom of this page), three functions are introduced using Taycan.
Porsche gesture control function
This topic is about «gesture control function».
The first is a hands-free way to open the back trunk. A mechanism that automatically opens the trunk when you put your foot under the car body.
It also tells us that it will not work unless you check «Tailgate Comfort Opening» and «Confort Access» in the settings in advance.
The second method is to open this charging port port in Taycan automatically as well.
Hold your hand to open the Porsche trunk
And this third also leads to Porsche 911 «FrankHow to open «. In other words, how to open the front trunk. This is what I wanted to tell you this time ^ ^
It is a major premise that you have the car key.
There are two ways to open the front trunk with gesture control, the first one.
[Method 1]All you have to do is gently hold your hand over the front bumper just below the crest. This will open the trunk (up to the first slight opening).
When I actually try it, it’s okay to lift my hand a little from the body without touching the body of the car, so the back of my hand does not stick to the body.
[Method 2]Similarly, slide the front bumper part under the crest slightly from left to right by hand. This will open it.
There is no need to touch the body here either, just slide it when it is slightly lifted from the body and it will react.
I’m a little scared of the image of my hand (laughs), but it means that I slide my hand from left to right like this ↓
The video also introduces these two methods, but the fact that there are these two methods is actually an important point (and I think it is selfish).
Because in the case of Taycan, either of these two methods may respond, but from the actual experience I am doing in my car:
- Porsche 911 Carrera (991.2) → Open with [Method 1]
- Porsche 911 Carrera (992.1) → Open with [Method 2]
If it is 992, it cannot be opened by just holding your hand in [Method 1]. But 991.1 isn’t a slide, it’s more responsive if you just hold your hand over it.
Maybe this is not due to the model number, but the difference in sensor sensitivity? Since things are a little different for each individual, Porsche may dare to convey two methods by saying «I can do either one».
It’s my own speculation, but ^^
If you know how to open the trunk with this gesture control, it is a function that is already used as a matter of course, but if you have not used it yet, please try it.
However, some Porsche models (and ages) do not support it. For example, even with the same 991.2 type, GT3 seems to be non-compliant .
★ Addition (2022.3.26) ★
I was surprised to hear a comment on Twitter!
Because there are some that are not compatible depending on the model and model, but even if Porsche is the latest one before that, I think that the above operation will not work unless it is an individual that is a keyless entry in the first place. ..
What is a keyless entry: Porsche Entry & Drive is an option that allows you to start and move a car just by holding the key without physically inserting the car key. What is possible.
In other words, in order to open Frank with gesture control, the following is essential ^^:
・ The car must support the entry & drive system.
・ If it can be set on PCM, «Comfort Access» is turned on.
・ I have a key

Thank you for the explanation of gesture control! This is probably a feature that my 991.1 doesn’t have?
Or was it possible by attaching a smart key in the OP? ?? It ’s Taycan,
[Method 1] [Method 2] Even if I try both, the sensor is dull or it doesn’t open very much . (tears)
Even so, if you trace the bonnet with an artificial chamois when wiping off water droplets when washing the car, it will unexpectedly become empty . As for the method of opening the trunk hands-free, I tried various timings to extend my legs, and recently it has become possible to open almost 100%.
Rika (911supercars.com) says:
Injuni-sama
Oh, thank you! I always enjoy reading the Taycan information of Injuni-sama because it is only real information based on actual experience ^ ^! Regarding 991.1, I think that if you don’t have a smart key (that is, an option called entry & drive), you can open the hood with gesture control. And for Taycan, being able to open the trunk with your feet means that the comfort access in the settings is also checked . Why doesn’t the front trunk open? ?? Oh, it reacts when you wash the car (laughs). When it comes to that, it may feel like it doesn’t react unless you touch the body firmly and swipe . ?? I don’t like the hood opening when washing the car, so when I really care about it, I put the key in the car ^ ^
