Over the winter I was jumping out of the truck to disconnect a trailer, I must have accidently hit the lock switch while jumping out and locked myself out with the truck running. I had to walk about 15 minutes without proper winter gear in a blizzard to Timmies to call my wife because my wallet and cell were in the truck. Thankfully they offered me a free coffey to warmup and let me borrow a cellphone.
Should’nt it have a safety to prevent the driver door from being locked while running in park?

Sucks man ! I guess you don’t have the keypad hey. I locked my keys in my 01 focus on purpose to warm it up one winter. Didn’t know the key fob doesn’t work while running. I should have checked that out first.
My Hyundai won’t lock when running. Maybe ford needs some advice.

I thought most f150s came with the side access code panel thing to unlock the door with a code.

My truck has that option but I bought the truck used and never got the code or got around to retreiving it.
My other car doesnt allow the driver door to lock while parked and running

Seriously big bummer dude. I need to get my pass code for the keypad, I dont want to go though that again.
apperently the code is located on the passenger side behind the kick plate/door sill on the BCM or some box thingy..

The wife’s Taurus unlocks if you run your finger down the pad and the key is in proximity. I don’t see that in the F150 manual, though.
There is this:
Displaying the Factory Set Code
Poznámka: You will need to have two programmed passive anti-theft keys for
tento postup.
To display the factory set code in the information display:
1. Insert a key into the ignition and turn the ignition on for a few
sekund.
2. Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
3. Insert the second key into the ignition and turn the ignition on.
The factory set code will display for a few seconds.
Poznámka: The code may not display until after any other warning messages
first display.
No, I have not tried it. The wife has the truck right now If it does work, this should be sticky!
Sad story: Many years ago I was in Panama on an exercise. A «buddy» was watching my 240SX. He calls and says. «I started the car and closed the door» I knew this was a problem. He had one set of keys, a full tank of gas and my car that auto locked the doors when started. . .

Having some work done on the truck and will pick up after the store has closed. They suggested locking the keys in the truck and having me use second set of keys to open the truck. However, I don’t think the truck will LET you lock either set of keys in the truck.

it will lock the keys in the truck as long as they arent in the ignition when using the fob. You can lock in the ignition using the door pad on my XLT.

If it’s got the keyless start, throw them in the door panel. I do it all the time at the boat ramp.

When I go cycling at the trail, I throw the key fob into the centre console and then use the keypad on the driver door to lock/unlock. Pressing the bottom 2 buttons will lock the truck and of course, whatever code you program to unlock.

No, it will not unlock if the fob is inside the vehicle.

Correct, this is intended as a safety feature so you can’t be sitting idling in a parking lot in a locked vehicle and have someone come up and just unlock your car and get access to you.
Which would be pretty scary on its own, but thinking you were mostly safe in a locked vehicle would definitely add to that.

You are correct- at least on the Lariat level. You can’t lock the truck with the second key fob if the keys are in it. To lock it with the keys in it:
Press and hold the 7/8 and 9/0 button on the key pad simultaneously. It will lock the doors with the key in it. To unlock it, you can use the second fob or you can enter the code on the keypad.
It also works on the Explorer.
