Every time I sit in the car I feel like I need to adjust the seat, steering wheel, etc..
What tips do you guys use to adjust your seat? I am in a shitty situation as I have long legs and a short torso. I would like to put my seat way back but then the steering wheel is too far away (yes, even way out, i like to have it by my wrist if my arm is totally stretched out.). If I move closer my knee likes to hit the bottom of the steering wheel column. If I move the seat way down I feel like I am too low in the cabin.
Damn tradeoffs and options! What tips do you all use to sit functionally/comfortably?

I like to have the seat back sorta low, but to get the right distance from the pedals, I push the clutch to the floor, and back the seat up until i only have a slight bend left. as far as the wheel, I don’t have that much of an issue with where my seats end, but as long as my arms have a slight bend (not straight), I’m ok with it.

I’m 6’4.5 and all legs, and I have the seat all the way back, as well as the steering wheel pulled as far toward me as it goes. I am 6MT and have no problems, even when it comes time to shift, so I don’t see how you could possibly have že much trouble without having to lift your leg at all since you are DSG.

Weird, raising the seat itself up seems to help everything.
Not really having problems, i’m just really anal about my seating position.

I have the same problem. I think every time I get out I push the lever (that raises and lowers the seat) down. Could that be the problem?

WWAATTAAHH.
i’m only 5’10 so i find my settings easily.
my seat is set to all the way down and push slightly back. the steering wheel is push back also and slightly tilted up. the back support is tilted somwhat center so i dont hunch while i drive
i guess try to play with the rotation gear (whatever you call it) to tilt your back support back and forth. there’s not much of an advise until you find your comfortble settings, gl.

I’m 6foot but drive like an old man
Seat is fully up right, and all the way down on the floor.
Relatively close to.
I find it the best for heel-toe and quick shifts.
Long distance driving no shot.

I’ve never been able to find the right spot for driving, but it’s the same in every car—and worse with cheap cars that only have fore-aft seat adjustments and no telescoping wheel.
Heaven forbid the seat gets moved. for the next 1/2 hour it’s a storm of clicking and ratcheting until I get the seat where I think it was before.
Generally, I like the seat ratcheted all the way down, wheel all the way out and almost all the way «up». I still feel like I’m sitting to to high up.

6’3″ seat all the way back. High enough that I’m almost eye level with the rear view mirror. Steering wheel as far towards me as it goes and just high enough that my hands to hit my knees at all when I turn.
I’ve been in head on crash so I like to sit properly with the right distance from airbag with the wheel pointed at me in the right spot and my arms bent nicely.
I only moved my seat a lot when I first got the car, took me a while to get in the right position for clutching.

So no one has this problem?
In order to get the steering wheel close enough (wrist of the outstretched arm) your knees hit the steering column? Even with the steering wheel pulled all the way out? I guess I have really long legs and a short torso. I don’t feel comfortable driving if my steering wheel it too far away or if my knees can hit the column. My knees like to hit when I switch to the brakes, not on the gas.

I think I understand your problem, I can’t fix it though.
I’m 6’5″ and like to sit close to the steering wheel. Since i have a long torso the seat is all the way down and since i have short arms for my height, the steering wheel extended all the way out. My knees do rub the steering column when i brake. I use the valet key too because my knee sometimes hits the key
If the wheel extended out further, I could sit farther back and my knees wouldn’t hit anything. If I just move my seat back so my knees don’t hit, the steering wheel is too far away.

I adjust my seating position depending on how I’m driving. Keep in mind I’m 6’4 with balanced legs and torso. I’ve got the seat about two notches above the bottom and pulled just an inch or so from fully set back for relaxed driving with the window up. You lose a little leg room but the trade off is a better arm position on the door armrest and more relaxed grip on the wheel.
If I drive with the windows down I raise the seat up a notch because the window sill is a bit high and I’ll move the seat a bit closer. This allows more of the air to move past me rather than get blasted.
If I’m engaging in «spirited» driving I’ll bring the seat down and move up about one more inch.
And yes, I’m constantly playing with different combinations of seat hight and distance to get the right postion. I took me two weeks to get the lumbar support in a place I like. And I would certainly pay extra for seat memory!
