How do I use the wireless charger in my Acura MDX?

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and I can’t seem to get the placement of the phone on the pad right for it to charge. I think I got it to work once, but there’s some space on all sides so if it moves around, the charging stops. Has anyone else figured out the best way to use the wireless charger or is it just trash?

Unfortunately the difficulty of charging iPhones wirelessly in the TLX is a known issue on this site. There are other threads on here regarding all the issues with iPhones. Android products seem to fair better. I have a Galaxy S22+ that only stops charging if it gets displaced during spirited driving, but its ability to obtain charging is pretty good in most places on the charging pad.

Yeah, the wireless charging pad doesn’t work well! I have an iPhone 14 Pro, and it’s almost impossible to get it to actually work on my 23′ Type S. I gave up on it a couple of days after acquiring the vehicle, and have since just resorted to letting it charge via lightning cable when I am using Apple Car Play. I ended up turning the charging pad off, and now I use it for other purposes.

Man I was really hoping to have wireless CarPlay and the charging pad, but oh well. The charging pad, when it works, barely charges too. I have it turned off now and just charge with the cable.

Fortunately, in my opinion, the ergonomics of the placement of the pad is absolutely brilliant. Kudos to the designers on that. With the USB cable poking out from under the armrest, I just plug my phone in and set it on the pad and I’m all set. It’s dimly bothersome that the charger probably won’t work if I tried to use it, but with the cable completely out of sight when plugged in — it’s a visually appealing set up, and easy to pretend that my car is generating the cool google earth view on my dashboard, and not my phone! I absolutely hate when the USB ports are situated in such a way that it’s almost impossible to hide the cable. I’m looking at YOU, Lexus ES!

The wireless charger is an interior convenience item that allows for wireless charging of compatible devices. It can support up to 15W of charging power, although the actual charging rate may vary depending on the device and other conditions. The wireless charger is equipped with a (power) button that is used to turn the system on and off. It has a green indicator light that comes on when the system is activated and an amber indicator light that comes on when a device is being charged.
