Driving back home this afternoon, I got repeated, almost constant “Keep your eyes on the road” warnings from the driver monitoring system. I wasn’t wearing sunglasses or anything obscuring my face or eyes. I switched Eyesight off and back on manually twice, but kept getting the warnings. After I stopped for gas and turned off the engine, the problem didn’t recur when I started back up. There was a moderate amount of snow on the road, but it wasn’t snowing at the time.

Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so, do you know how to fix it?

I’ve seen other complaints on the board that sound similar, so you are not the only one.
Complex electronic systems have a tendency to glitch, and unfortunately, while they are working there is no problem to find.
If the problem continues to happen, it may help to notice if there is any pattern.

If there isn’t, you can complain to the dealer — The car is under warranty — but unless it’s a frequent or repeatable issue, it will likely be a case of NTF.
No Trouble Found.

As a friend of mine once heard a service manager say, «Lady, you have to make it not work before we can make it work.»

I had the same issue last week. It was very annoying so I put my ball cap on the dash cutout to block the camera and the monitor system disconnected as it could not see me. If I took the hat away, the problem returned. After turning off the car and restarting the next morning all was/is good (so far). I don’t know if this is a common link, but my issue occured at night

Good «fix», I like it! :smile2:

sounds annoying to me. over reaching tech that has the right safety feature in mind, but design may not be fully practical with these glitches/issues.

X2, too much electrical junk that malfunctions, breaks, annoys and adds cost $$ to the car purchase!

I hate to ask this, but is it possible that the warnings were justified?

I tried staring straight ahead, staring at the camera, removing and replacing my eyeglasses, cycling the Eyesight system on an off manually, and various combinations thereof. I do get the occasional justified warning if I look away for too long, but this was repeated and almost constant.

Had the warning occur continuously to me last week. Cycled the Driver Monitoring System off for a minute then back on, same warning.
Shut the system off for the remainder of the short ride, it worked normally on the way home.

So, how many times have you had to restart your computer because it locked up?
Did you bring it in to get it «fixed», or did you decide not to get everyone laughing at you?
It could be the same problem here.
Like @bbottomley said, it has to be not working in order to fix it.

Electronic glitch errors are nearly impossible to find when they occur randomly, because when then system is working there isn’t a problem to find.
All it takes for a computer to run amok is a stray cosmic ray that cannot be practically shielded, and a bit state is changed from a zero to a one.
Instant problem that cannot be recreated.

Its one reason I prefer manual controls wherever possible.

There may be a common thread, which might reveal a design defect, but an individual bringing in the car to the dealer is unlikely to get anything but their time wasted.

I’ve found the Driver Focus system to be totally worthless. It will regularly alert me when I am literally staring at the road, especially if the road has any curve to it. I’ve gone to the dealer about it and they can’t find anything wrong. I just disable the system everytime I get into the car which is annoying.

Pokročilé technologie

Ok, as long as we’re on the «Automation/Technology» subject, let me share three of the most common phrases said 20 years ago in the most advanced automated airline cockpits:

«Hey, what’s it doing now?»
«How do we get it stop?»
«What does this button do?»

Ok, so maybe that’s a complete fabrication, but you guys get the idea. :wink2:

This happened to me yesterday for the first time but I think I caused it.

The scenario was this. I was attempting to get Car Play to recognize my phone which was acting a tiny bit glitchy (maybe because I forgot to plug the phone in before starting to drive) but not sure. Anyway I pulled over, turned the car off, plugged in the phone, then turned the car back on and quickly drove away. I think. again I only think that I did not give the car enough time to scan me upon restarting the car and putting it in gear so it got into a state where it was enabled but didn’t have a lock on my person. It was a short 2-3 miles drive to pick up my daughter from school. So at the end of the drive I turned the car back off then back on where it then took a scan, I then took it for a short drive to confirm all was well.

When you buy a new Subaru Outback, Crosstrek, Forester, or another new model, it can be overwhelming learning all about the settings, features, and controls. In this report, I will cover five settings you may want to change on your new Subaru.

Some of the information comes thanks to Subaru insider Alex Prestigiacomo. Check out the YouTube video below for more details related to Subaru features.

2024 Subaru Outback settings

He says, «Even if you don’t want to change these Subaru settings, it’s important to know where they are and what these features do. Adjusting your Subaru settings is easy once you see how it’s done.»

The Top 5 Settings You Will Want To Change On Your New Subaru

The most annoying feature on a new Subaru is the Auto Start/Stop. I have written reports on why it’s the most disliked feature on any Subaru model.

2024 Subaru Outback Stop/Start feature

Časté startování a vypínání motoru unavuje některé řidiče, kteří žijí v městských oblastech, zvláště pokud každý den dojíždíte v hustém zastavovacím provozu.

Knowing the maintenance schedule is essential to keep your vehicle in top shape. Click the home button on the touchscreen, touch the Car Info button, and then on maintenance. The screen lets you set maintenance reminders for oil changes, tire rotation, or general maintenance schedules. You can schedule by a specific date or by the vehicle’s mileage.

3. How to turn off your Subaru lane departure settings

The lane departure setting for the alert can be annoying, and many customers want to know if you can turn it off. The answer is yes. The cameras pick up the lines on the road, and they are sensitive.

I am not particularly fond of the lane departure warning because I hug the inside lane while driving on narrow two-lane mountain roads, and it goes off all the time, but it can be turned off.

Go into the vehicle settings, click the car icon, driving assistance, and then lane departure. There are a few settings that you can change. Lane departure and lane centering depending on which feature you want to turn off.

4. How to turn on Subaru Auto Vehicle Hold

To turn it off, tap the AVH button on the touchscreen. Remember, when you turn your vehicle off, it has to be tapped again because it will automatically reset to the default setting.

5. How to connect your phone with Subaru Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

To connect wirelessly, go to the touchscreen and click on the add device icon, click add, and then go to the settings on your iPhone or Android. Go to the Bluetooth setting and find your vehicle on the phone display.

Once connected, it will ask you if you want to connect with CarPlay. Click on that setting, and you are set with a wireless connection. You can now use the navigation system, listen to music on your phone, or make a phone call all from the touchscreen display.
