Hey guys new to this can’t believe they have a Challenger website. First new vehicle I’ve bought for myself ever excluding boats motorcycles and cars for wives. Anyway how do you turn the horn honk off when exiting the vehicle while it’s running with the key fob in your pocket? It really pisses me off that I can’t figure it out. Please help.

I’m guessing it’s a safety feature, and as such it will not be something they make easy to disable. Check the settings available through the uConnect screen. If not found there you may have to go big time and get something like AlphaODB to disable it in the controlling module. Going that route has implications for the car’s warranty though…

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I’m going to try putting a toggle switch in the horn wire so it doesn’t honk while I’m pulling my mom out in front of the grocery store.

3 honks when you close the door with the car running. I just don’t let the door latch closed when I get out and its running if I don’t want the annoying tripple horn.

Welcome from Alabama. Mine doesn’t do this. To get pictures of mine with the orange front ring lights, I leave it running out of gear, no parking brake (on a flat road) but I leave my fob in the car. Have you consulted your dealer?

Thanks to all The dealers an ******* no good place to leave the fob in the car so to keep it from honking three times I guess I’ll leave the door open and hope no one tries to steal it while I’m getting Mom to the motorized cart. LOL

Welcome to the forum. I have never experienced your problem with the horn. All I’ve ever gotten is a message that the fob has left the car. Must be something new. Did you check your manual? Good luck

It’s a little bit of a pain but you can kill it, get out and shut the door then remote restart it. Now it will run without issue and can’t be driven away since you have the FOB, so probably the best safest option anyway.

There is a setting but I don’t remember if it’s thru the Tazer or Uconnect, to turn that function off. I was able to do it on my 16 shaker.

Yeah, I have this on my 2022, it is by far the worst thing I have ever had on a car. Case in point, I live in a quiet neighborhood, I fire up my car and get out for a second, (shutting the door as it’s freaking cold), HONK! HONK! HONK. at 5 AM. I could not find a way to disable that.
Yes, if I didn’t shut the door it won’t honk, but I forget every single time.

My 2020 Challenger Scat Pack doesn’t honk/beep, but my 22 Jeep JLUR does, have read on the Jeep forums that a certain level of software version on a Tazar has the ability to disable this, would imagine it should also work on the newer Challengers, maybe reach out to them or see what they’re latest features say.

Why do you need your vehicle running to walk your mom? My ‘15 will honk as well as my wife’s ‘19 Grand Cherokee if you leave the vehicle running and remove the fob from the car. You couldn’t leave a car running without a key prior to fobs.
If you have to have it running with no one in it, remote start it after you leave the vehicle.

I’d turn it off myself too. I used to haul Mom around and would always shut it off, she didn’t like a/c anyway. If you get out of the running car someone can just jump right in and go and that would be on you. If you remote start it they can’t move it.

My 2022 RAM 5500 Tradesman has this “feature” as well.
Since it is a Tradesman, no remote start.
My workaround is to place the fob on the windshield wiper, driver’s side. Start the truck, close the door. Stick the key fob back in my pocket.
The easiest way is to carry both fobs, leaving one inside the truck, out of view.

I’ve left my 2021 Challenger outside running many times and it’s never honked. The only thing I can think of that I’m doing different is in the settings I have «Flash Lights With Lock» ON, «Sound Horn With Lock» OFF and «Passive Entry» turned OFF.

Yeah, my ’22 Challenger does this as welll; which was a surprise since neither my 2020 Durango or 2020 Ram 1500 do it. It’s pretty damn annoying. From my brief research, the only known way to disable it is with a Tazer (as previously mentioned). Good luck to both of us adapting!

It’s on the ’22 and up Ram 1500 also. Guys HATE it. I HATE it. Recently the «Ram Cares» profile on the 5th Gen Rams forums was polling members about whether or not they would like to see a software update that allows this «feature» to be turned off. The overwhelming response was YES.
I step out with my family inside to check the mailbox, or load up the trash can on trash day, or run into the store to grab a quick soda. The truck honks 3 times and everybody within a 100 foot radius stares at me. It’s annoying as hell. It sometimes ticks other people off because they think I’m honking at them on purpose. It also will wake up the neighborhood at 6:00 a.m. I thought «AutoPark» was the dumbest feature they ever put on these rides, but «3 horn honk» is worse!
The only way I have found to shut it off so far is with the Tazer programming tool.
