The 2011 Kia Optima doesn’t have an eco mode as far as I know, it definitely didn’t on my 2012 optima SX turbo, pretty sure that eco was introduced much later down the line.

What are the buttons on your steering wheel? My 2012 SX turbo has the ECO button on the steering wheel, right here per the below picture. Your photo is too blurry so I cannot see if your steering wheel has the eco button where shown below.

What kind of 2011 Optima do you have? LX, EX, SX? What kind of feature package?
The dash seems to show Korean writing.
The more we know about your car, the more we can figure out.
Bottom line: why does your car show an «ECO» indication in the dash but have no ECO button on the steering wheel like the 2012 SX lines? That is inexplicable.

Is it possible that your steering wheel was replaced with a model that didn’t have the eco button? Don’t know how else to explain it.

My 2011 SX has a eco-button on the steering wheel with a light on the dash, and it does shift earlier, possibly with less boost. On secondary roads in Vermont where I average about 60, it returns over 30 mpg if I stay out of the blower.

Press the mode button and the up or down arrow button to change from ECO.

SWMBO’s 2011 EX. built in Korea, has the ECO button on the top of the bottom three left steering wheel buttons. Where your mute button is.

Nobody knows how ECO works. We post the explanation over and over again, but new buyers may have missed it.
It affects your transmission shifting. «What the ECO mode button does: It electronically changes the shift points of the 6 speed transmission to «switch gears» more quickly to get to those fuel saving top gears faster than the normal mode. Normal mode holds the car in lower gears more, to get more torque at the expense of gasoline, whereas ECO shoots up the gears saving gasoline at the expense of torque. Nothing more fancy than that. «
